His gold is Vitalina. Pedro Costa is visibly moved when he talks abut her, thinks of her and her story. That story was so powerful and violent, it became a dark film. And yet, the rare, extraordinary light in Vitalina Varela managed to get through to the viewers, with a journey that lasted twenty-five years, or just two hours. That unique journey won the Pardo d'oro.
